Nell'ottobre del 1976 Larry Mullen Jr. affigge nella bacheca della Mount Temple School, una scuola di Dublino, un messaggio per trovare ragazzi con cui formare una band. Rispondono Adam Clayton (famoso nella scuola per il suo atteggiamento scanzonato e per il successo con le ragazze), David (The Edge) Evans, suo fratello Dick Evans ed un ragazzo ribelle ed introverso dal nome Paul David Hewson (soprannominato Bono Vox, dal nome di un negozio di cornetti acustici). Il gruppo prende così il nome di Feedback
