Questo messaggio è per coloro che possiedono una delle schede audio delle famiglie in oggetto e desiderano farle funzionare con Microsoft Vista. La Creative non ha in programma il rilascio di drivers ufficiali compatibili con il nuovo sistema operativo ma girovagando un po' per la rete e per i forum sono riuscito a trovare questi drivers modificati rilasciati dal team di NGOHQ che funzionano alla perfezione. Unico neo è che per i possessori di SB Live non esiste un vero e proprio pannello di controllo e l'uscita audio è solo prevista per le casse anteriori. Penso che non sia escluso un ulteriore sviluppo e miglioramento che porti anche all'uscita quadrifonica e oltre.

AGGIORNAMENTO: Non accontentandomi ancora del risultato ottenuto, mi sono imbattuto in un sito che rilascia drivers non ufficiali per le schede audio basate su EMU10K1 and
EMU10K2. Non ho ancora testato questi drivers ma vi posterò i miei commenti personali il prima possibile:

some news:
1. my x64 and vista development was delayed due to lack of hardware. however, it seems I finally get the PC the next week, so, I'll return to my work on x64 and vista-compatible kX driver I finally got the hardware, will install the OSes shortly. x64 and full vista support is expected in 3539, NOT 3538 final.

2. ALSA has finally released some fixes that enable a2zs notebook analog inputs
I updated kX driver code accordingly – both line-in/mic-in and recording work now in 3538m

NOTE: ALSA has also released e-mu 1010-compatible driver, however at the moment, I do not plan any 1010/0404/1820-related development.

3. I have a list of minor updates/fixes to be done before I release the next build, 3538m

3. except the known issues listed in 3538m release notes, I currently have no objections against releasing 3538m as '3538 final'. I guess, fixing sysex and a2value mapping is not critical, I might do this soon. as soon as I get enough reports from the users with 3538m experience, I will release 3538 final and start working on x64/vista/whatever.

- Fixed issue with 24/96 router (pls verify!)
- Fixed skin memory leak issue (Note: always use Zip instead of Rar)
- Fixed EFX effects boot time issue (related to the above)

this is a final release candidate
unless we find anything critical in this release, I will announce this as 'latest stable' on our site (which hasn't been updated since 2004!)
after that, I will start working on x64 support and will work on improving Vista compatibility (ASIO)

pls re-check all the issues present in 3538a..3538l and let me know if some of them are still not fixed

known issues (which I cannot fix at the moment or will be fixing in 3539):
* digital noise/beep instead of audio playback (PCI bus-related) – since 2001…
* Line3 (AUX) is too noisy on A2PlatinumEx (undocumented initalization)
* sysex is corrupt if it is too long
* ASIO support in Vista
* x64 support

this driver version does NOT support (as 3538 and previous ones…):
* EAX 2.0
* 24/96 ASIO
* WaveHQ device (24/96) playback/recording on p17v (a2value, a2zsnotebook) – it was errornously enabled in 3538, but since p16v and p17v are different chips, no support is currently available (it didn't work in 3538 anyway)
* E-mu 1820-like hardware
* passthru on 10k1-based devices

note: audigy2 value mapping is incorrect. please let me know the new mapping and I will fix this before releasing the driver to the public

installation notice:
- uninstall any 3538 version first. if you have any setting files, save DSP configuration separately, since some of the settings are no longer compatible with previous 3538 builds

Alcuni siti segnalano inoltre, per la versione Vista 32-bit, la possibilità di utilizzare i vecchi drivers originali per Windows XP, in quanto il WDM (Windows Driver Model) è identico.
